An Interactive Presentation with Andrew Leslie Phillips

Hilltop Hanover Farm, 1271 Hanover St, Yorktown NY 10598, Tel: 914 962 2368

Permaculture design may be the only hope we have left for saving our planet! Within a permaculture system, work is minimized, "wastes" become resources, productivity and yields increase and the environment is restored. Permaculture principles can be applied to any environment, at any scale - from dense urban settlements to individual homes, from farms to entire regions. Learn how you can use permaculture principles on your own home garden or property to create a truly sustainable system.

Andrew Leslie Phillips is the founder of Hancock Permaculture Center located in Delaware County, New York

  • Our  Planet, Our Legacy at the Altar of Science &  Conscience
The challenge  of our time is before us. Yet, unlike any other crisis of this magnitude,  you cannot feel it, see it or touch it. The cause and effect of global warming  do not seem real to us, but the consequences are very severe. Ours is a  faith that embraces science, honors the rights of all peoples and respects the  interdependent web of existence. In his sermon "Our Planet, Our Legacy at the Altar of  Science & Conscience," Stuart Caplan will address doubt  and the imperative to act. With action soon, the most unconscionable impacts of warming can be  averted. Caplan will very pointedly present scientific  consensus on the causes of global warming and its impacts, and then  explore how a call to conscience and humanitarian principles crossing many faiths demand action  on the path to attainable solutions. We shall overcome, but  only if we appreciate the urgency, show leadership and courage in our homes, congregations  and communities and exercise our collective voice to move  forward.

Services at 9:30 and 11:15. February 21st. First Unitarian Society of Westchester, 25 Old Jackson Ave., Hastings on Hudson, NY www.westchesteruu.org
